THANK YOU FEILD DAY 2009

Greetings

To start off I would like to Thank everyone who assisted in any way for Field Day 2009!
I missed breakfast but when I got to Strasburg I was greeted by a fine group ready to work. We Looked around and found some great improvement to the building and with a little searching we found out little corner with a nice desk. Joe got busy installing coax and I wend and found to Comm van. It didn't take much and we had the Comm van up and running. I got out the Buddy Pole and put together the Yeasu 718 with the Aston 35 power supply and Heil Traveler mike in the Comm van. Bob set up a digital station and made some contacts on a DV dogle from the Comm van. No one seemed too interested in making contacts so we just worked.

Items Completed:
Install and ready to use Kenwood TM-D700 w/Coax at Substation.
Ready to use Yeasu 718 HF station. Need to take Buddy Pole Back out and leave until a permanent antenna is installed.

Need to Complete:
Tripod and antenna mount and move antenna.

As always Strasburg taught us some lessons!
1. As Bob put it Strasburg is a dead zone. An IRLP repeater would be a great asset out there.
2. We need a digital Solution for sending and receiving data at Strasburg and the OEM.

I would like to see some people do some research into these projects and make some recommendations
like the MIcro-Node IRLP repeater or maybe something with more power but must have IRLP. I am sending in the paper work in for the frequency allocation now to see what we will be allowed to do.
Please lets not let these lessons be forgotten and take another 10 years to complete!

Again THANKS TO ALL!
